Zoe de Negri I moved to the Ruidoso area about 11 years ago after visiting many times – and noticing how beautiful the scenery was here. I found a house suitable for a studio and continued the jewelry making I had been doing since the mid-sixties. Jewelry had always been fascinating to me – the stones and metals themselves and also the reasons for wearing what we do – fashion sentiment- charms and amulets – so after getting an academic degree (BA HONS in French Literature and African History) from the University of Lagos, Nigeria, I embarked on the jewelry project. I studied metal working techniques at the Cooper Square Craft School in NYC, the University of Minnesota and the Minnetonka Art center in Minnesota. I work mostly in sterling and embellish the pieces, earrings, pendants, pins, bracelets with semi precious stones and beads such as turquoise amethyst garnet and amber. The colors of the stones and beads can both compliment your outfit and make you feel happy. Zoe's website may be found at www.zoedenegri.com. |
